Manning Boulevard Lead Water Service Line Replacement Meeting

• Work will begin late June/Early July
• Carriage road work to begin at the same time (aka “Manning Boulevard Improvement Project”)
• If they need to dig your driveway or sidewalk they will patch not replace 
• Plan A, is dig one hole and run the pipe under ground
• Plan B, is dig multiple holes if there are obstructions 
• Plan C, is do whatever to make it work such as reposition the service line.
• The goal is to disturb as little as possible but this is not always possible. 
• Sewer lines are generally deeper than the water lines and are not being touched, but if you want to replace your sewer line now is the time to do it (try to time it to be immediately before the water service)
• It’s free to you and fully funded via grants.  Federal ($9M) and NY ($3M) 
• You need to be present for the work to happen so if you are on vacation they will reschedule you. 
• Utility may need to come into your house to locate the gas line (west side of street only, east side had meters relocated outside of houses already and can be done without entering the home)
• No other service disruptions planned at the same time
• Estimated road work well into fall. Maybe end of Spring.
• Residents cautioned to be emotionally prepared for it to be later than that

• Adirondack Environmental Services for water tests. $40/vial. Test now to confirm lead in your house, or 6 months after to test if its fully removed.
